Dr. Eli Eilon - Experience in Counseling and Training
Over years spent fulfilling, by turns, the roles of student, creative artist, teacher, and counselor, I developed my counseling approach, which combines knowledge gained in various fields of activity, from philosophy to business administration. The academic degrees I hold include a Ph.D. in philosophy (specializing in Nietzsche's thought, with an emphasis on man's self-creation); an MBA (specializing in finance and organizational behavior); and a BA in musicology – all received from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.
In 1997 I moved from the student's bench to the lecturer's podium, teaching at the philosophy and education departments at the Hebrew University, Haifa University, the Open University, and the Mandel Leadership Institute. I taught courses in philosophy, philosophy of education, creativity, ethics, and applied ethics in administration and education. In this framework I advised many graduate students writing papers for advanced degrees, including doctorate theses at the Philosophy Department of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.
My counseling work began in 1994, when I served as a consultant, and later as a senior consultant and as VP of Koby's Development Ltd.. I accompanied over 250 organizations and institutions, from the stage of conceptual development of a project, to the formulation of a vision and of specific aims and objectives, and up to the project's realization. My work with various organizations involved the dismantling and reconstruction of strategic and professional worldviews, with the aim of translating them into a practical vision that can be applied on the ground.
This experience also served me in my position as a staff member of the Mandel Leadership Institute, a non-profit organization fostering educational leadership.
In 2003 I established the Graduate Unit at the Mandel Leadership Institute, which I administered for three years. The Unit accompanied projects in the social and educational fields in Israel and in Jewish communities worldwide. Graduates of the Institute, who hold diverse administrative and executive positions in the social and educational fields in Israel, received counseling, beginning with philosophical elucidation of their visions, and up to the development of programs for the establishment, realization, and execution of these visions.
In the course of my work with administrators and organizations of various kinds, sizes, and personal characteristics, I elaborated and refined the counseling process, seeking to provide a fitting, holistic response to the challenges faced by organizations and the individuals leading them. The uniqueness of the process stems from its ability to equip counselees with flexible tools. These tools bridge the gap between challenges involving the counselee's identity and integration in a specific cultural context, and the detailed, day-to-day level of realizing a personal or organizational strategy.
Having established the Philoharmony Institute, I now focus my counseling, training, and research activities at the Institute, with the help of my team members. The Institute's vision is to support organizations and individuals by harnessing profound, yet practical thought in the consolidation of a vision and its realization. The Institute specializes in three main fields of activity:
1. Strategic philosophical counseling for organizations
2. Philosophical counseling for individuals
3. Training of excellent personnel
